Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Delivr offers first-time subscribers a 90-day free trial for personal, non-profit, and educational use and a limited commercial trial. The QR codes you generate are dynamic-ready, requiring an upgrade to activate link editing. Upgrade anytime to a paid subscription plan during or after the trial period for continued use.
What happens to my QR codes once the free 90-day trial expires?
For your dynamic-ready QR codes to continue working, you must upgrade to a paid subscription before the trial ends. Static QR codes will continue to work.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. You can subscribe to a monthly subscription plan that runs month-to-month with no long-term contracts or commitments. Yearly plans discounted 10% are also available - over one month FREE.
How do I know which plan works best for me?
If you are a small business looking to evaluate QR codes, start with the TRIAL, PLUS, or PRIME plan based on the QR codes you need. The VIP or PRO plan is ideal if you are a mid to large-scale business looking to scale with QR codes. However, if you are a global brand looking for an Enterprise-grade solution with a highly specific set of requirements, we recommend the ENTERPRISE plan.
Can I change my plan later on?
Absolutely! You can upgrade or downgrade your plan anytime between paid subscription plans.
Is there a setup fee?
There are no setup fees on any of our standard nonenterprise plans.
Do I need to enter my credit card details to sign up?
No. You can sign up and use Delivr TRIAL without entering your credit card details. Get immediate results with no risk or obligation.
What are my payment options?
Delivr accepts all major credit cards through our online payment system for monthly and annual platform subscriptions. Contact us if you want to prepay for 12 months by ACH transfer, Wire transfer, or Purchase Order (PO). Payment by PO is available for select subscription levels only; please get in touch with Support.
Can I cancel my account at any time?
Yes. Cancel your paid subscription and your credit card will not be charged again. While this is self-service, we would happily take care of this if you contact support.
What happens when I cancel my subscription?
Once you cancel your subscription, Delivr will deactivate your campaigns and dynamic QR codes. If you renew your subscription, you can contact Support to reactivate your account and QR codes.
What is your refund policy?
You may cancel your Delivr paid subscription at any time, but Delivr will not issue a partial credit or refund for the unused time between when you cancel your paid subscription plan and the end of the current billing cycle unless it's legally required.
What happens if I exceed my plan volumes?
You will never be charged unexpectedly for occasional traffic spikes. If you exceed your plan volume for two consecutive months, we will contact you to upgrade to a higher plan for the following month. You can decide to continue with a higher plan, be charged for the additional views at a rate of $0.001 for each additional view, or cancel your account. Campaign and QR code access, management, and tracking continue uninterrupted throughout. TRIAL accounts are limited to 1000 total views. Once the total views volume for your trial plan is reached, your campaign will be suspended until you upgrade to a paid subscription plan.
What are the commercial usage guidelines for your plans?
Delivr TRIAL is offered to first-time subscribers for personal, non-profit, and educational use and a limited commercial trial for 90 days. Creating more than one trial account to avoid upgrading is not permitted. Delivr TRIAL can not be resold or provided as part of a commercial offering or service. If you are creating a Delivr account as part of a commercial service offered to others, please select the appropriate paid subscription plan.

Who owns the data managed through my Delivr account?
All data that is being managed through your Delivr account is yours. Delivr does not share that data with any third party except for sending anonymized location data to Google APIs to generate the maps used in your reports. You can export your raw data from your Account Dashboard. You determine how long data remains stored in our system. You can choose to delete your reports & underlying data at any time.
How is an active campaign determined?
An active campaign is an item that appears on your Account Dashboard. For example, generating a dynamic QR code equals the creation of one campaign. As long as that campaign is in use and on your Account Dashboard, it is considered “active”. You can archive campaigns when they are no longer in use.
Do my campaigns expire?
Delivr TRIAL campaigns remain active for 90 days from the creation date -or- until 1000 views have been reached, whichever comes first, after which they expire. Upgrade to a paid subscription plan to extend the life of a Delivr TRIAL campaign or reactivate an expired one. Delivr PLUS, Delivr PRIME, Delivr VIP, Delivr PRO, and Delivr ENTERPRISE campaigns do NOT expire under an active paid subscription plan.
Can I reactivate an expired campaign?
Yes. You will need to upgrade your account to a paid subscription plan. Campaigns do NOT expire under an active paid subscription plan. If you already have an account, sign into your account, then while signed in, return to this page to upgrade. If you do not have an account, please select the appropriate paid subscription plan above. Once you have upgraded, contact support
Can I use my domain name?
Yes. You can use a custom domain name (or subdomain) with Delivr PRO and Delivr ENTERPRISE. Your custom domain name replaces the “delivr.com” in your links with your brand.
What is the turnaround time for email support?
We typically reply in less than half an hour to email queries during business hours on business days, with a slower turnaround outside business hours and on weekends.
How do I cancel my subscription plan?
You can cancel your subscription plan anytime from your dashboard at the Account link.
What are QR codes?
QR codes® (Quick Response Codes) are 2D Barcodes readable by smartphones using a QR code reader app. QR codes placed in ads, direct mail, retail displays or signage can deliver information and media to a consumer's smartphone via their mobile Web browser. QR codes can launch URLs, mobile landing pages, initiate phone calls, App Downloads, and more.
What are dynamic QR codes?
Dynamic QR codes are also known as editable QR codes. Editability means you can change the destination of the QR code anytime, as often as you wish, even after printing. With our dynamic QR codes, you have this flexibility because a short URL that points to your destination URL is encoded in the QR code graphic. You can change the stored link without generating and printing the QR code again. Editability saves effort and reprinting costs and enables you to respond to any changes in the campaign as quickly as possible. A further benefit is that if you need to get the code into production but do not know the final destination, you can generate the code using a placeholder URL and edit where it goes later. I made a typo in the URL on code creation; no worries, you can quickly fix that once caught. Delivr's dynamic QR codes go even further than that with Delivr's intelligent link routing service. Dynamic QR codes are tied into our analytics platform, which gives you access to data like the number of views/scans, location, type of OS, language, and more. Learn more about our reports.
What are static QR codes?
You cannot edit Static QR codes after printing and are not eligible for our analytics platform. However, static QR codes will continue to scan even if you no longer pay for a subscription.
What is the difference between a static and dynamic QR code?
Static QR codes can be used to direct users to a fixed destination. This means one cannot change the destination URL once printed and distributed. However, Delivr’s dynamic QR codes are flexible. You can change the URL linked to it, even after publishing and broadcasting.
What are views?
A view is counted every time someone engages your campaign short URL by direct entry, click, scan or tap and redirects to the destination configured for the campaign.
What is a short URL click?
A short URL click is counted every time someone clicks through your short URL and counts against your total allowed views.
What is a QR code scan?
A QR code scan is counted every time someone scans your QR code and counts against your total allowed views.
Do people need an app to scan QR codes?
No. Downloading an App is not required. QR codes can be scanned using the phone camera on Apple devices and Google Lens on Android devices.

Intelligent Link Routing & Management
URL schemes are specially formatted URLs to deep link to content or actions within an app.
Rather than entering a Website URL (HTTPS, e.g. https://www.example.com), enter the following URL schemes to launch communication and collabloration tools and social intents.
Once a short URL or QR code is generated for these URL schemes, they can be dynamically edited and tracked like any other dynamic campaign you create at Delivr. For example, once you print a QR code or share the short URL, you edit the URL scheme at anytime, as often as you wish.

Dynamic QR codes rely on smart redirects to turn a single printed code into a flexible, trackable, and future-proof digital touchpoint. Instead of locking in a final URL, a dynamic QR code points to a managed short link that can redirect users in real time — enabling destination updates, campaign changes, accurate scan analytics, and personalized experiences without reprinting packaging or materials.
This FAQ explains how dynamic QR code redirects work, why Delivr uses temporary (302) redirects, and how different redirect types affect flexibility, tracking, and SEO. Understanding these mechanics helps brands, marketers, and product teams understand Delivr's approach for long-term performance and measurable engagement.
How Dynamic QR Codes Work
Dynamic QR codes don’t encode your final destination directly. Instead, they contain a managed Short URL that redirects to your chosen Destination URL.
Short URL → Redirect → Destination
➀
Short URL
You enter a long Destination URL into Delivr’s Dynamic QR Code Generator.v The system generates a unique short URL, stores both the short URL and the QR code in a database and encodes the short URL into the QR code.
➁
Redirect
When scanned, the short URL triggers a 302 redirect to the Destination URL.
➂
Destination
The user’s browser automatically follows the redirect and loads the destination.
Why 302 Redirects Are Used
Delivr uses 302 (Temporary) redirects for dynamic QR codes because they allow destinations to be updated at any time while preventing browser, CDN, or search-engine caching. This ensures scans are always routed to the correct destination and that analytics remain accurate over the lifetime of a QR code.
A 302 redirect signals that the target URL may change. This makes it essential for managed short URLs used in QR codes, where destinations may be updated, rotated between campaigns, or varied by audience, location, or context.
While 302 redirects are the best choice for dynamic QR codes, other redirect types exist and may be used in different scenarios outside of dynamic QR use cases.
The Benefits of 302 Redirects for Dynamic QR Codes
- Campaign Flexibility. Run limited-time promotions or event-specific links.
- Analytics & Tracking. Measure scans, clicks, and usage data.
- Dynamic Routing. Send users to different destinations based on device type, language, or location.
- A/B Testing. Split traffic across landing pages to optimize design and conversion rates.
- SEO-Friendly. Preserves link equity and user experience without penalties.
Why Not 301 Redirects?
A 301 redirect is permanent. Browsers, CDNs, and search engines aggressively cache it, meaning future updates may never be seen. For dynamic QR codes, this breaks flexibility and risks sending users to outdated pages.
Common Redirect Types at a Glance
302 Temporary Redirect
Best for managed short URLs and dynamic QR codes where destinations may change over time. Because 302 redirects are not cached by browsers or intermediaries, updates take effect immediately and scan analytics remain accurate. This makes them ideal for campaigns, rotation, personalization, and long-lived QR codes that require ongoing flexibility.
301 Permanent Redirect
Indicates that a URL has permanently moved and that SEO value should be passed to the destination. Because 301 redirects are commonly cached by browsers and CDNs, they are not suitable for dynamic QR codes that may need to change destinations later. A 301 redirect is appropriate only when a short URL is intended to be a permanent, unchanging bridge.
307 Temporary Redirect
Functions like a 302 redirect but preserves the original HTTP request method (such as POST). This redirect type is typically used for APIs or form submissions and is uncommon in QR code scanning scenarios, where GET requests are the norm.

How do I route visitors by country?
1. In the Country-specific URLs section:
Select a country from the dropdown menu.
Click the green plus icon to add the rule.
2. After adding or editing a rule:
Click the blue checkmark icon to save that row.
Note: Each row must be saved individually. If you begin editing a new row without saving the previous one, any unsaved changes will be lost.
What happens to users from locations not listed?
Any users who do not match a defined geotargeting rule will be redirected to your campaign’s default Destination URL, which acts as the fallback link for all unspecified regions.
Can I geotarget by state or province?
Yes. Delivr supports geolocation-based routing by:
- Canadian Provinces
- Mexican States
These options appear within the same Geotargeting URLs section. The setup process is identical to country targeting:
1. Choose the region.
2. Enter the custom URL.

Import Instructions for region-specific URLs, by U.S. State, Canadian Province, or Mexican State.
Click EXPORT to download the spreadsheet, update the relevant Region-specific URLs, save your changes, click BROWSE to select the file, and then click UPLOAD.
How Accurate Are Geotargeting URLs?
The IP geolocation databases we use are highly reliable, offering 99.8% accuracy at the country level. This ensures that, in most cases, users are directed to the correct country-specific content based on their IP address.
Factors that affect IP Geolocation accuracy.
Several technical factors influence how precisely an IP address maps to a physical location:
- Mobile Networks. IPs assigned to mobile users are often dynamically assigned and routed through centralized carrier infrastructure, making them harder to pinpoint.
- VPNs and Proxies. These services mask the user’s actual location by rerouting traffic through remote servers, often in other countries—drastically reducing accuracy.
- ISP Practices. Internet Service Providers may assign IP addresses in broad geographic blocks and often use dynamic IPs, which can change frequently and further reduce location precision.
Why device location may still be inaccurate.
Even when IP geolocation is used in combination with device-based services, accuracy isn’t always guaranteed:
- Users may disable or block location sharing, intentionally or through privacy settings, which limits the ability to gather precise data.
Additionally, corporate Wi-Fi, public hotspots, and network routing quirks can all contribute to inconsistent or misleading location data.
Improve Location Accuracy
To track scans with greater precision, enable GPS location tracking (with user permission). When activated, you can capture the GPS coordinates for each scan and use them to generate more accurate location reports. Steps to Enable the Location Prompt
1. Edit Your Campaign
In the campaign row, click the Edit Campaign (pencil) icon to open the campaign settings.
2. Find the Location Prompt Section
Scroll to the Location Prompt section. Here, you can also configure alternate destination URLs based on the user’s detected geolocation.
3. Enable GPS Location Requests
For Prompt users for their GPS location?, select Yes.
4. Customize the Prompt Screen
When enabled, an intermediate screen will appear after scan or click, asking users to optionally share their device’s location. You can personalize this screen at the account level with your logo for a branded experience.
Best practices for Geotargeting Campaigns.
To ensure a smooth user experience despite these limitations:
- Set up fallback logic (e.g., default to a global or English-language page) for users whose location cannot be confidently determined.
- Where possible, leverage device-level location services to refine targeting—especially in mobile-first campaigns or apps.
When You Can Use the UTM Builder with Geotargeting URLs
Use the UTM Builder when the same UTM parameters apply to all links in the campaign — including both the default Destination URL and any country-specific Geotargeting URLs. In this case, the builder will automatically append the UTM parameters to each link during redirection.
When You Cannot Use the UTM Builder with Geotargeting URLs
Do not use the UTM Builder if any UTM parameters vary between links. In such cases, you must:
Enter those fully tagged URLs directly into the platform, either manually or by spreadsheet upload.
Important
You cannot enter parameters in both the UTM Builder _and_ at the individual link level. Choose one approach based on your use case — either apply parameters universally using the UTM Builder, or manually tag each link as needed.
Pro Tip
With Delivr, localized engagement is just a scan away.
Geotargeted URLs let you personalize your content at scale—without sacrificing simplicity or control.

The GS1 Digital Link is a standardized structure that enables a 2D barcode to serve as a point-of-sale function and a web-based URL for consumer experiences.
It has been announced that in 2027, a new standard will replace the Universal Product Codes (UPC) that have been in use for nearly 50 years. This groundbreaking standard will use QR codes encoded with a GS1 Digital Link, providing a range of benefits for businesses and consumers alike.
The upgrade to QR codes will enable every product to become smartphone interactive, allowing consumers to connect with products seamlessly. This will enable transactions with point-of-sale systems, providing a more efficient and convenient shopping experience. GS1 Digital Link will also provide supply chain traceability, ensuring that each product can be tracked from its inception to its final destination.
GS1 has long been recognized for creating a global business language based on unique and unambiguous identification. This identification is encoded in data carriers like QR codes and RFID tags, and it is essential for business processes that rely on those identifiers. These fundamentals are used worldwide to support the various business needs of supply chain partners, enabling greater efficiencies in processing goods and services.
The World Wide Web is an environment that allows people and companies to access and share information on anything, including products and services. GS1 Digital Link serves as the bridge that connects GS1-based identification schemes with the syntax used on the World Wide Web. This provides a standard way of expressing GS1 keys and attribute data in a format that can be used on the Web.
The GS1 Digital Link Standard defines how to structure web URIs to include additional information like batch/lot, expiration date, serial number, and other GS1 keys like GLN (Global Location Number) and SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code). This powerful standard enables a single, standardized QR code to perform multiple online and offline functions, reducing the need for numerous codes on packaging. With the implementation of GS1 Digital Link, businesses and consumers will benefit from greater efficiency, traceability, and convenience.
A URL shortener is an online tool that converts your long links into shorter ones. Shortened links are clean, easy to share and memorize.
A URL Shortener is an online application that converts a regular URL (a web address) into a condensed format. The user only has to copy the full URL of a website and paste it into a URL shortening tool to come up with an abbreviated version. A URL Shortener allows users to shorten very long links into shorter ones that are better suited for e-mailing, instant messaging, QR code or NFC Tag encoding and for services that restrict character counts. Other uses of URL shortening are to "beautify" a link and track clicks.
Often regular unshortened links may be aesthetically unpleasing. Many web developers pass descriptive attributes in the URL to represent data hierarchies, command structures, transaction paths or session information. Marketing departments and their ad agencies add campaign parameters. This can result in URLs that are hundreds of characters long and that contain complex character patterns. Such URLs are difficult to memorize, type-out or distribute. As a result, long URLs must be copied-and-pasted for reliability. Thus, short URLs may be more convenient for websites or hard copy publications (e.g. a printed magazine or a book), the latter often requiring that very long strings be broken into multiple lines (as is the case with some e-mail software or internet forums) or truncated.
On Twitter and some instant-messaging services, there is a limit to the number of characters a message can carry. Using a URL shortener can allow linking to web pages which would otherwise violate this constraint. Delivr generates Short URLs that are friendly and human-readable.
URLs encoded in two-dimensional barcodes such as QR code are shortened by Delivr's URL shortener in order to reduce the printed area of the code and allow printing at lower density (less complexity) in order to improve scanning reliability.
Delivr provides detailed information on the clicks a link receives, which can be simpler than setting up an equally powerful server-side analytics engine.
Delivr can host your own branded short domain. Your domain replaces the “delivr.com” in your links.
URL shortening is a technique that converts a long web address into a much shorter one while still directing users to the same destination. It works by creating a redirect—typically on a shorter, branded domain—that points to the original long URL.
Delivr uses two methods to locate the End User’s device: the IP address method and the Device GPS Location method (where GPS stands for Global Positioning System).
The Device GPS Location method requires permission from the End-user to allow End-user’s device to send the location information to Delivr (delivr.com).
The IP address method is based on the public IP address that the End-user’s device is using when the End-user clicks through a short link, or scans a QR Code, taps a NFC tag, or interacts with a Delivr-supported technology in some other way. This public IP address is typically based on the network that the End-user’s device is connected to. It can be a mobile operator (carrier) network, a Wi-Fi network, or an organization or a company network. The important consequence of this is that the location associated with that public IP address is typically the location of the network element such as a gateway, or a router, which may or may not be located in close proximity of the End-user’s device. In majority of cases, the location information obtained this way is accurate to the state or city level, but it is important to note that this is not always the case. An example: an End-user travelling to Europe might be accessing the Internet through his WiFi access point connected to his company’s main network in US via a secure VPN connection while scanning a QR code in her hotel room; as the public IP address of End-user’s device will be in US, the location registered by Delivr will be in US as well. If that same End-user disconnects from her company’s VPN, connects to the mobile network and scans the same QR code, this new scan will now be registered with a European location of the IP address of the European mobile operator’s network that her device connected to.
The Device GPS Location method involves Delivr getting the most precise GPS location data (latitude and longitude) directly from the End-user’s device at the time of interaction (click, scan or tap). The End-user must provide permission to allow her device to send the information to Delivr; if the End-user denies such permission, Delivr falls back to the IP address method. The accuracy of the GPS location data is reliable and much more accurate than the location data obtained through the IP address method. It is network-independent, so regardless of the accuracy the location represents the actual location of the End-user’s device at the time of the action. The accuracy is not always the same; it typically varies depending on the End-user’s device GPS receiver quality, environmental conditions including cell size, atmospheric effects and obstructions to get strong GPS satellite signals. Real-world data collected by the FAA (US Federal Aviation Administration) show that the accuracy of GPS devices is increasing. Many modern devices with GPS can potentially have better than 1 meter (3 feet) horizontal accuracy.
FAA data collected in early 2011 shows that the horizontal accuracy of GPS SPS is often within ~1 m
